The month that starts off with a bang and is full of activity. . .
For us, for the last few years, July 4th has included a party at our daughter and son-in-law’s home. This year the low country boil was the highlight of the day. . .
July 7th brings my son’s birthday and memories of birthday parties with adorable little boys, dinosaur cakes, and grandmas and grandpas coming over to help celebrate. He is now a handsome, successful man of 28 who knows himself better than I ever did in my twenties (or thirties even). . .
The Farmer’s Market opens in July, and we start to see tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, beans, etc. in our own gardens. . .
Cleome and sweet peas both started to bloom this week, and are absolutely beautiful. . .
Bees are buzzing all over the herb garden. . .
And on the few stray sunflowers the birds must have planted among the vegetables. . .
I love the abundance of fresh vegetables and being able to share them with people who don’t have a garden. I noticed today that the green beans are ready for their first picking, so I should get busy. . .
