Giving Up or Letting Go

If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ , and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.  Matthew 17:20

With the political and economic climate what it is in the world today, it is almost natural to feel helpless.  If we really look at what is currently happening in our own country and around the world, we can get angry, depressed, frustrated, or even worse, just give up.

There is a difference though between giving up and letting go.  Giving up says “What’s the use?  The world is too far gone to turn things around now.”  Letting go says, “God, I don’t know how you’re going to handle this, but that’s not my job.  My job is to use the gifts and strengths I’ve been given in the service of love.  I make myself available, and I let go of the outcome.”

Sometimes we need to break free from the hopelessness and helplessness that hold us down.  We need to call out to God, stir ourselves up, and give Him something to work with, even if it is as small as a mustard seed.
