It’s so important to surround yourself with words and images that speak of the life you want to live. For me, it’s words and beautiful gardens and pictures of happy times with my family. For you, it might be dogs, beautiful landscapes or architecture, or striking sculpture. If you watch the news at all or most regular programming, you need to balance that out with beauty and creativity. To really have those things in your life, you need to tip the scales on the side of what you want, not what you don’t want. How can you continually feed your mind and spirit with negativity and expect to see different results in your own life?
It’s so easy to get sucked into the trap of going along with “what is” instead of consciously, actively creating what you want. I know, I spent years doing just that. Putting beautiful pictures up in your home might seem like a silly, superficial way to “look for the good”, but it’s a powerful way because what you see every day makes a huge impression on you.
What makes you feel happy, peaceful, optimistic? Surround yourself with those things. Actively seek out the good and the beautiful. Spend time with people who uplift, encourage, and inspire you. Be the kind of person who uplifts, encourages, and inspires.
It’s your life – fill it with the things that matter to you. Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mold and don’t try to be a carbon copy of anyone else. Create your own life.
